Self Assessment (with Desktop Audit)
This Self Assessment process has been developed as an introduction to quality assessment and improvement processes for smaller organisations that may not have the resources to undertake the more intensive and demanding Service Development or Accreditation Reviews. Your organisation engages QMS for 12-15 months only and conducts a documented internal assessment. This self assessment and some supporting documents (specified) are forwarded to QMS to audit. A brief report with recommendations will be written by QMS and returned to the organisation.
Small Organisation Review
The Small Organisation Review Model is an adapted process designed for organisations with seven or less full-time equivalent staff and/or volunteers. The aim of this model is to make participating in a Review Cycle for Accreditation or Service Development more manageable for small organisations.
Service Excellence Program (SEP) Assessment
The Service Excellence Program (SEP) is an internationally accredited quality improvement program developed by the Department for Families and Communities (DFC) in South Asutralia. SEP is aimed at supporting non-government organisations (NGOs), particularly those that are small, to establish quality improvement processes. Funding may be available for the assessment process via application to DFC or the government department providing funding for the service. For other organisations this is a self funded arrangement. Organisations are able to select their choice of external assessors from a panel of providers to which QMS belongs.
More information on the Service Excellence Program can be found at: http://www.dfc.sa.gov.au/pub/default.aspx?tabid-267
Developmental Audit with Action Plan
Often undertaken to quickly identify system gaps as a preliminary to entering a full 3 year accreditation cycle, this process provides an intensive assessment of an organisation's needs over a two to three month period. There is no requirement for self assessment. The organisation in consultation with QMS defines the scope of the audit process and the standards against which it will be assessed.
An audit schedule is determined which includes interviews, document review and site inspections. A review team of generally two members spends a week at the service undertaking the assessment. The process concludes with a written report including recommendations. An Action Plan resulting from the developmental audit is optional and can be negotiated with QMS.
QIC Service Development Review
Service Development provides all the benefits of undertaking a three year review cycle, without the pressure of meeting the QIC Criteria for Accreditation. This is a good option if your organisation has not previously been externally assessed. This option does not provide nationally recognised QIC Accreditation. A QMS Certificate of Quality is provided upon completion of the Review Cycle.
QIC Accreditation provides your organisation with a nationally recognised Quality Improvement Council (QIC) Certificate of Accreditation. The Certificate is valid for three years. Organisations are accredited against the QIC Health and Community Service Core Standards that focus on Building Quality Organisations, Providing Quality Services and Programs and Sustaining Quality External Relationships. To be awarded QIC Accreditation, your organisation must meet all Core QIC Standards and demonstrate a sustainable system and continuous quality improvement.
